Boston University Information Systems Planning and Support

About Us

Founded in 2004 by the Boston University Executive Vice President's Office, Information Systems Planning and Support is a group of 8 dedicated computer systems consultants, analysts and developers. We provide a comprehensive array of computing and systems administration services for administrative business units within Boston University.

ISPS manages one of the most advanced server, storage, and virtualization infrastructures at Boston University. Servicing almost 1500 users across 70 departments, the ISPS CA infrastructure (a.k.a. the “smartcore” ) is the backbone for all file server, database server, print server and application server operations. This multi-node infrastructure is comprised of a number of advanced enterprise computing technologies, including Network Appliance NAS clusters, a VMware ESX virtualization environment, and a clustered Microsoft SQL Server data store. Each of these assets were carefully engineered by our support team to provide exceptional performance and high availability, as well as progressive backup, continuity and disaster recovery features for all our users and supported units.

ISPS is also responsible for the administration and provisioning of public Internet kiosks across campus.

How do we do it? We're not really sure, but contact us to discuss your specific needs and we’ll be happy to make up an answer for you.
